Why Can't I Create a Shipment?

The most common blockers when creating a shipment — insufficient balance, address validation failures, missing required fields, account approval, and permission issues.

Quick checklist

Run through this list first — it covers the most common blockers:

  • Wallet balance is sufficient
  • Ship To address passes validation
  • All required fields are filled in
  • Account is approved
  • Ship From address is set (Connect mode only)
  • Sub-user has Orders and Shipping permissions

Good to know: If you see a red error banner at the top of the form, read it carefully — it names the specific field or condition blocking the shipment.

What Prevents a Shipment from Being Created?

Several conditions must be met before the platform allows you to purchase a shipping label. If any of these conditions are not satisfied, the shipment form will block you from proceeding. The most common blockers fall into six categories: balance, address validation, required fields, account approval, ship from address, and permissions.

Insufficient Credit Balance

The platform checks your credit balance before allowing a label purchase. If your balance is too low to cover the label cost, a dialog appears prompting you to add credits. If you have a card saved, you can top up directly from the dialog. If no card is on file, the dialog shows the exact shortfall amount so you know how much to add.

To add credits manually, go to Billing in the sidebar and enter the amount you need. See Adding Credits and Payment Methods for details.

Address Validation Failure

The Ship To address is validated using autocomplete as you type. If the postal code does not match the city or province, the form will not allow you to proceed. This prevents labels from being created with undeliverable addresses.

To fix this, re-enter the address using the autocomplete suggestions rather than typing freehand. Select the correct suggestion from the dropdown to ensure the postal code, city, and province are consistent.

Missing Required Fields

Certain fields are mandatory depending on the shipment type. If a required field is empty or invalid, the form highlights it and blocks submission.

Account Not Yet Approved

New accounts go through a review period before they can purchase labels. During this time, the shipment creation form is not available. Check your email for the approval notification from Stallion. If you have been waiting longer than expected, contact support to check the status of your account review.

Missing Ship From Address (Connect Mode)

Courier and LTL shipments require a Ship From address configured in your account. If no Ship From address is set, the form cannot proceed. Go to Settings → Locations to add your business address and mark it as the default Ship From location.

Permission Denied

Sub-users need both Orders access and Shipping access to create shipments. Orders access allows the user to navigate to the shipment pages, while Shipping access enables the actual shipment creation actions. Without Orders access, the shipment section will not appear in the sidebar at all. Without Shipping access, the user can view shipment pages but cannot create new shipments. The account owner can grant both permissions under Settings → Account → Sub Users by editing the sub-user's role and enabling Orders access and Shipping access.
