Printing Labels

Choose between thermal printing and PDF download, set up QZ Tray for direct printing, and manage your print job history.

Before you start

To print directly to a thermal printer, QZ Tray must be installed and running. To download labels as PDF, no additional software is needed. See Printers & Scales Setup if you haven't configured your printer yet.

Step 1: Select the purchased shipment and choose Print Label

Start from the shipment list or the shipment detail sidebar, then choose the print action for one or more purchased shipments. You can also select multiple shipments and use the bulk print action from the toolbar.

Step 2: Choose the output format and print action

Your default print action is configured per document type under Settings → Printing & Scales → Printers.

Label formats

FormatWorks withNotes
PDFAny printerStandard format; works on thermal and office printers
ZPLZebra thermal printers onlyRaw thermal format; prints garbled text on non-Zebra printers

Step 3: Confirm the print job and review the result

After the print job starts:

  • If using Direct, the label prints immediately — check the printer for output
  • If using Download, save the file and print it when ready
  • If using Prompt, select the printer in the browser dialog and click Print

Print Jobs

Go to Print Jobs from the print workflow to see all generated print jobs, download completed files, and identify failed jobs. Each job shows the status, number of labels, and a download link for the generated file.

If a print job fails, it cannot be resumed — create a new print job from the shipment. Check that QZ Tray is running, the printer is connected, and the format matches the printer you are using.

Mobile note

On mobile, label printing usually works as a download-first workflow rather than a direct thermal-print workflow.
